What is the JackTrip Virtual Studio?
Just like the space where you get together with your friends when you want to perform, the JackTrip Virtual Studio is a “virtual” or digital studio where you and your friends can connect online. The JackTrip Virtual Studio is a cloud server, custom enabled with our proprietary technology so that when you and your friends are there online, we ensure that your audio quality is breathtaking, your delays are minimized and you can perform together in a ‘same room’ experience. So, when you and your partners are remote, and you want to connect with them to rehearse, practice, jam, improvise, teach, learn or record, a JackTrip Virtual Studio is the venue for you.
What does creating, hosting and joining a studio mean?
One person has to command JackTrip to create the studio and we instantly provision a cloud server located optimally for you and your group. This person is also the host of the studio. They send out a Studio invite link to all participants. Once you get the invite, you follow that link to join that Studio. And yes, you need to create a JackTrip account to join a studio. Once you join in, you can see and hear the remaining participants.
What is a Studio Session?
A session is one continuous duration of studio use. In the free tier, the studio is available for a session of 30 minutes and terminates at that time. You can restart the session and continue again, as many times as you want. Once you try out the studio and decide that JackTrip offers all the benefits of remote collaboration that you seek, we have several paid plans that may be relevant, and which don't have the limitation of 30 minute sessions.
What is a Public Recording?
During a session in a studio, you can broadcast to your audience using JackTrip Radio with the click of a button. All they audience needs is a link to join in to hear your performance. You can have any number of listeners to your performance, on JackTrip Radio. We automatically record these sessions and this is termed a public recording i.e., a recording of a studio session that was being broadcast.
What is a Private Recording?
A private recording is recording of a studio session that was not broadcast on JackTrip Radio This might be rehearsals, jams, improvisations etc that you choose to record and they are stored in your studio for you to access at any time.
